WHAT
IS CHI?
Chi, also known
as Qi, is defined as air, breath of life, or vital energy of the
body. It is known in the eastern philosophy to be the circulating
life energy that is thought to be inherent in all things. It is
the Chinese word for life force and is traditionally used in Chinese
medicine to balance the negative and positive forms in the body
essential for good health.
WHY WE NURTURE OUR
CHI FLOW...
Our Chi flow
is nurtured through our breath. There are many, many purposes that
the breath serves, but the two that attribute most to daily activity
are:
1. To calm the
mind, and
2. To generate life energy
WHEN OUR CHI
IS NOT FLOWING...
On a daily basis,
the majority of us activate our nervous system without even thinking
about our respiratory or circulatory systems - in a sense - writing
checks with our brain that our oxygen intake can't cash. As a result
the brain isn't getting enough air.
The effect is physical, mental, and emotional strain, which may
show up as fatigue, stress, negativity, depression, anxiety, agitation,
difficulty concentrating, and/or physical ailments.
ATTAINING OPTIMUM
CHI
When we feel
unbalanced or agitated, our mind is over-stimulated and our body
is neglected. Optimum Chi is attained when one finds the balance
between the body and the mind.
One way to do this is through conscious breathing. Oxygen is the
purest, most vital nutrient for our bodies. When we breathe, oxygen
flows to the brain, nerves, glands, and our internal organs, making
it essential for the integrity of our entire structure.
